Fishing the glacial rivers of the Andes
PACHAR COCHA FLY FISHING (CUSCO)
Season runs from May to December
Suitable for children over 10 years old
Pachar Cocha is a lake which is part of the Chumpe community and is located in the highlands of the Sacred Valley of the Incas 1 hour 30 minutes from the city of Cusco. The local community is very friendly and this distinctly Andean landscape is truly the most impressive of all the high Andean lakes. In this particular lake fishing is very exciting and fun because of the availability of fighter rainbow trout that inhabits it. The size of trout ranges from 25 to 50 cm and there is a great potential of being able to catch larger trout.
Pick up from your accommodation at 7.00am and depart Cusco heading to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will pass through in the beautiful historic town of Pisac, an important archeological site in the Sacred Valley, and continue on for a further 40 minutes to our destination
We arrive at Pachar Cocha Lagoon at 9 am, and immediately assembly all the equipment required for the trip. We tailor our fishing programs to our customers requirements and for this trip we offer both the opportunity to fish on the shore and also from our fishing raft in which we travel around the lake searching out different sizes of trout. You have the opportunity to fish all morning in this stunning environment. At 12.00 we provide our famous gourmet picnic lunch characteristic of Peru Anglers. In the afternoon, we continue to fish in the lake until 2:30. At 3:00 pm return to the city of Cusco after a journey through the wondrous Sacred Valley of the Incas, arriving at 5:00 p.m. To your accommodation.
We advise you to bring a rain jacket because the climate in the Andes is very varied. Depending on the season, usually the weather is very cold in the early morning but at noon it is normally warm and sunny. Please bring appropriate clothing for these different temperatures. It is advisable to bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
Please inform in advance of any dietary requirements
If you want to bring your own gear:
Fishing equipment recommended for these high Andean lakes is 5-6 rod and flotation lines because the area lends itself to use dry flies. Small nymphs have also very good results; you can also fish with small streamers, for that line can be used F / S for deepening flies. Leader and tippet N ° 2-4
