DAY 1 - WELCOME TO THE ANDES: PISAC EXPLORATION

After landing in Cusco, one of our representatives will be waiting at the airport to greet you and transfer you to the Sacred Valley. Rather than staying in Cusco, we’ll head straight into the valley, where the lower altitude and peaceful surroundings provide a gentler introduction to the Andes.Depending on your arrival time and energy levels, we can visit the archaeological site of Pisac, perched high above the valley. From here, we’ll explore the impressive Inca terraces, ancient pathways, ceremonial areas, and spectacular views stretching across the valley below.After visiting the ruins, we’ll walk downhill along old Inca trails, gradually making our way toward the town of Pisac. This is a wonderful way to experience the landscape at a slower pace, surrounded by the mountains and the remains of this remarkable Inca settlement.Once in Pisac, we’ll stop for lunch and enjoy some time exploring this charming Andean town before continuing to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.Start Height: 2 972 masl / 9 750 ft. DAY 2 - FARM AND FOOD WITH HUALLAFARA COMMUNITY

This is a special day to learn about Cusco and the Sacred Valley gastronomy, discovering the amazing variety of local agricultural resources and biodiversity, to later put into practice the cooking lessons at La Base Lamay.We will drive you first to Lamay to then continue towards the community of Huayllafara. The locals will take us to visit their farms with traditional crops (like potatoes, oca, anu, tarwi, quinoa, beans among others) and will teach us about their traditional farming techniques, while we taste their local produceThen we will visit a garden with veggies, lately incorporated into the local gastronomic offer. We will learn about the local culture and their daily activities, according to the time of year and the agricultural calendar. The tour and interpretation will be focused on the agricultural and food processing techniques, such as the preparation of chuño and moraya, the washing and uses of quinoa, elaboration of Chicha de Jora, and other interesting Andean activities. Finally, we will return to La Base Lamay for the cooking lessons..The idea is to prepare Peruvian classic recipes and use the native products in the cooking process. To encourage the spirit, we will prepare pisco sour or enjoy a Pisco tasting session. DAY 3 - MOUNTAIN BIKE DAY - CHINCHERO, MARAS & MORAY

Embarking on a morning adventure, we set out from our hotel, ascending to the captivating high plateau of Anta. Our full-day escapade kicks off in Cruzpata, a quaint community near the picturesque Piuray Lagoon, part of the charming town of Chinchero. To acclimate to our bikes, we navigate an old dirt trail that meanders through the breathtaking scenery.Our cycling journey leads us to the archaeological marvel of Moray, renowned as a former agricultural laboratory where indigenous potatoes were cultivated across different ecological tiers, each mirroring a unique climate.After a leisurely break in the nearby town of Maras, our biking adventure unfolds, guiding us along scenic paths to the mesmerizing salt mines. The decision to descend to Pichingoto town in the Sacred Valley is left to the passengers, allowing for a tailored experience. Finally, we return to out hotel in the Sacred Valley, having savored a day brimming with captivating landscapes and cultural revelations. DAY 4 - CUSCO TO LARES

​Very early, as the sun begins to shine on the mountains of the Sacred Valley, our guide will pick us up from the hotel and we will head in the direction of the Sacred Valley. The Calca market will be our last stop before losing contact with big cities. This is our final chance to buy any last minute things we may need for the trip. The road that leads to Lares and crosses the Amparaes pass at 4470m is a phenomenal drive which winds through arid landscapes, occasional rivers run across the road and the mountain views are breathtaking. ​Our final destination is the hot baths of Lares. Here, naturally occurring, relaxing thermal waters await us before our trek. From the thermal baths unfolds a small track, used by local children and community members. We pass through hand tilled fields and crops of quinoa and potato, amongst quaint stone houses. After a gradual climb of a few hours we will stop for a delicious lunch, before continuing on to the community of Cuncani, our camp for the evening. The night will be cold but charming. DAY 5 - CUNCANI, PUMAHUANCA MOUNTAIN PASS TO PACCHA

​If the day is clear, we will wake up to the imposing view of Colque Cruz, a majestic mountain capped by a glacier, which provides water to the community. We follow the path next to an icy stream that will take us towards the pass. The ascent is challenging. We will have some hours of demanding but rewarding uphill, on rocky trails passing through incredible landscapes punctuated by high altitude lagoons. As we get closer to the pass, the trail becomes steeper and rockier.On reaching the summit a stunning view of the Pampas of Anta awaits us, followed by a descent that will be most agreeable after such a long climb. The descent is steep but beautiful, crossing a small forest of ‘Polylepis’, the endemic and endangered trees of the high Andes. Just after the forest and with an incredible view of the valley below we will stop for lunch. After which the drop continues until we reach our camp, a tranquil paradise, surrounded by trees and crossed by a small river. Tonight, if we find some dead wood, we will enjoy a campfire. DAY 6 - PACCHA, PISCIGRANJA TO OLLANTAYTAMBO

This morning will be our last on the trail and after breakfast there will be a chance to take photos with our porters, cooks and field staff. All those who made this trip possible. From here the walk becomes easier down to the piscigranja (fish farm). We will feel the climate changing, becoming warmer and more alive, with more variety in vegetation as hummingbirds accompany us on our journey.After a few short hours we will meet our private transportation that will take us to Ollantaytambo for an overnight stay at the stunning & unique El Albergue hotel. DAY 7 - KM 104 TO MACHU PICCHU

We will drive you to Ollantaytambo to take the train station to Km 104, where the short Inca Trail starts. The valley turns into a canyon and the scenery begins to alter as the cloud forests appear on our approach to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. We will disembark the train at Km 104 and start the hike along a quite challenging uphill path. This ancient Inca Trail takes us uphill all the way to the magnificent archeological complex of Wiñay Wayna, from where there are many steep steps to climb to reach the upper part of the Archaeological Site. Here we find a fabulous sense of peace far from the crowds. with superb views of the imposing verdant mountains and native orchids. The trail now becomes gentler, continuing all the way to the Sun Gate, where we arrive to Machu Picchu through its real entrance. It is from here that we will have our first glimpse of the Machu Picchu citadel. We then cross the site to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes town and check in to our lodge to rest and relax, in anticipation of a full day visit tomorrow. DAY 8 - MACHU PICCHU EXCURSION

After breakfast, we’ll take the bus up to Machu Picchu for a morning visit to the citadel. Accompanied by our guide, we’ll explore the impressive Inca sanctuary, learning about its history, architecture, and the fascinating stories behind this remarkable site. The guided visit will take approximately 2–2.5 hours.After the visit, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and some time to relax before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our private transportation will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Machu Picchu with Huayna PicchuIf you feel like you could take on another uphill challenge, you have the option to climb the famous mountain of Huayna Picchu this morning, pre afternoon tour. It is important to mention that to climb this mountain, you need to buy a separate ticket in advance. Please confirm that you want to make this climb at the time of making your booking with us. The trail consists of many steep narrow steps (not recommended for people who suffer vertigo), the height of the mountain is 2700m / 8858ft (the climb is 300 m.) We will climb Huayna Picchu at 10am. The route is around 3 hours round trip. We will then exit Machu Picchu citadel and have our lunch at Sanctuary Lodge just outside the entrance to the Citadel. After lunch we re-enter the citadel at 2pm for our guided tour of the citadel itself. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch. Accommodation: El Albergue or Similar

DAY 9 - DISCOVERING OLLANTAYTAMBO AND BACK TO CUSCO

After breakfast, we’ll take some time to explore Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved living Inca towns in Peru. We’ll walk through its ancient streets and visit the impressive archaeological site, where massive stone terraces and ceremonial structures offer a glimpse into the importance of this remarkable Inca settlement.We’ll then head to a local experience for an early traditional Pachamanca, one of the most emblematic Andean ways of cooking. Prepared underground with hot stones and fresh local ingredients, this is more than just a meal—it’s a tradition deeply connected to the land and the Andean way of sharing food.After lunch, we’ll make our way to Cusco. Once in the city, we’ll have some time to explore its historic center, walk around the main square, and take in some of the atmosphere of this fascinating Andean city before heading to our hotel.A day that brings together Inca history, Andean traditions, local food, and a first taste of Cusco.Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch.Accommodation: Hotel Abbitare in Cusco or similar.
