DAY 2 - TUC-TUC & PERUVIAN FOOD EXPERIENCE

An authentic local travel experience and culinary adventure, in a part of Lima very few travelers explore.

We start the adventure with a short drive to Chorrillos. From there we will change things up and hop into the tuc-tuc, (a motorcycle taxi known informally as a «MotoTaxi» in Spanish) that will provide a fun perspective of Lima. We then travel along a coastal road stopping for great panoramic views of Lima and the Pacific Ocean. Seeing such beautiful sights will definitely give you an appetite, and you will be ready for a mind-blowing Peruvian lunch in one of the local’s favorite eating spots. 
After your delicious feast, we’ll take a walking tour of Barranco. It is the best way to get to know one of Lima’s artsy districts known for its colonial-style buildings, bohemian lifestyle and a unique south-facing location, while hearing stories you won’t ever find in a guidebook. We finish our ultimate Lima food tour by adding a sweet touch of Peruvian chocolate and desserts while overlooking this picturesque neighborhood.
This is one of the most unique and delicious experiences to be had in Lima! Tonight we rest well after our busy city adventure for tomorrow we meet the Andes!

DAY 3 - PICTURESQUE JOURNEY TO THE SACRED VALLEY AND EXPLORING THE HACIENDA HUAYOCCARI

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to Lima airport, all set to catch a flight that will whisk us away to the incredible city of Cusco.

Once we gather at the airport, we break away from Cusco and descend into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. While still at a considerable altitude, 2800m (9290 ft), spending our first day in the Sacred Valley is a good way to acclimatize, allowing our bodies to adjust to the potential dizzying heights of the Andean Mountain range. 
  
On our way to Urubamba, we will stop at Pisac to spend some time walking around its unique and artisanal market, where we can appreciate or buy the different crafts that are handmade in this town.

After Pisac's wonders, enjoy lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari. Explore the on-site museum in a stunning landscape for a memorable experience. The hacienda welcomes travelers to flower-filled patios, orchid-filled terraces, and rooms adorned with art. Dive into traditional hospitality in a Cusquenian family's home.

If requested we can organize an exclusive Peruvian Paso horse demonstration, learning about horse dynamics and riding safety, adding a unique dimension to your visit at Casa Hacienda Huayoccari.

Later, we'll head to our hotel in the Sacred Valley. Relax, relish good food, and savor the surroundings.

DAY 4: IMMERSE LAMAY: A UNIQUE VILLAGE ENCOUNTER & COOKING EVENING

This morning, we're heading back to our place in Lamay, this adorable little town nestled in the heart of the Valley. It's not just our base; it's home.

We will go for a walk through this small traditional village. Starting with the visit of the Lamay Church, built in the 17th century, plenty of artwork that belongs to many different important cities in the world. We will be able to visit the mezzanine of the choir and the bell tower and learn how the bell ring for each different occasion, a language that has been lost among the years. Then we will learn about guinea pig breeding and how a traditional activity has transformed into a business opportunity for the locals. Afterwards, we will visit a traditional corn beer brewery (chichería), where we will learn about the process of making “chicha de jora” (corn beer), the benefits and importance of this drink for the farmers and local people in the village. We will enjoy this moment with chicha and a traditional and healthy snack, called “picante”. If there is time enough, we will visit the Lamay bread oven, an important meeting place of the Lameños every morning. We will learn about bread-making and other traditional uses that they give to such important tool. 
 
It is the same local people and owners of these initiatives, who will explain what their life is like around their daily activity. With our visit we will be contributing to raise value to each of these important activities that each of them carries out.

As the day wraps up, we'll finish our Lamay Village Experience. After soaking in the good vibes, we'll head back to the hotel for some downtime, looking forward to more adventures coming next.

On the early afternoon, we'll enjoy a Pisco Sour lesson, capping off the day with the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Afterward, we'll head back to the hotel.

DAY 5 - TRAIL TO TREASURES: HIKING TO MACHU PICCHU FROM KM104

Today we drive to the charming town of Ollantaytambo to take the train to t Km 104, where the short Inca Trail starts.
 
The valley turns into a canyon and the scenery begins to alter as the cloud forests appear on our approach to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. We will disembark the train at Km 104 and start the hike along a quite challenging uphill path. 
 
This ancient Inca Trail takes us uphill all the way to the magnificent archeological complex of Wiñay Wayna, from where there are many steep steps to climb to reach the upper part of the Archaeological Site. Here we find a fabulous sense of peace far from the crowds. with superb views of the imposing verdant mountains and native orchids. The trail now becomes gentler, continuing all the way to the Sun Gate, where we arrive to Machu Picchu through its real entrance. It is from here that we will have our first glimpse of the Machu Picchu citadel. We then cross the site to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes town and check in to our lodge to rest and relax, in anticipation of a full afternoon tour tomorrow.

DAY 6 - MACHUPICCHU EXCURSION AND BACK TO OLLANTAYTAMBO

Good Morning! Rested and enthusiastic for our ultimate day we have the option to relax this the morning or have a wander round the town. 
Today we will lunch early in one of Aguas Calientes’ excellent restaurants in order to arrive to the Citadel in good time for our full afternoon tour. Accompanied by our guide, we take a 25 minute bus ride to the Sanctuary of Machupicchu (2400m / 7874ft). Our guide will lead us in a tour of exploration and discovery of the many curious corners within this enigmatic Citadel. Our guided tour will have an average duration of 2 hours.
 
Machupicchu with Huaynapicchu 
If you feel like you could take on another uphill challenge, you have the option to climb the famous mountain of Huayna Picchu this morning, pre afternoon tour. It is important to mention that to climb this mountain, you need to buy a separate ticket in advance. Please confirm that you want to make this climb at the time of making your booking with us. The trail consists of many steep narrow steps (not recommended for people who suffer vertigo), the height of the mountain is 2700m / 8858ft (the climb is 300 m.) We will climb Huayna Picchu at 10am. The route is around 3 hours round trip. We will then exit Machu Picchu citadel and have our lunch at Sanctuary Lodge just outside the entrance to the Citadel. After lunch we re-enter the citadel at 2pm for our guided tour of the citadel itself. As the site closes for the day at 5:30pm we bus back down to Aguas Calientes. We then have a charming train journey back to Ollantaytambo and time to reflect on, quite possibly, one of the most amazing experiences of your life. Our private transport will be waiting to take us back to your hotel.

DAY 7 - SCENIC CYCLING AND PACHAMANCA CULINARY ADVENTURE, BACK TO CUSCO

In the morning, we leave from our hotel to drive up to the high plateau of Anta. This full day experience begins at Cruzpata, a community located nearby the lagoon of Piuray that belongs to the town of Chinchero. We will start pedaling along an old dirt road (trail) that will help us to get used to the bikes.

Heading to the archaeological site of Moray where travelers can visit this area known for being a former agricultural laboratory used to experiment with varieties of native potatoes. They were planted in different ecological `oors`, each `oor` representing a separate climate.
 
We will take a moment to enjoy our beautiful Pachamanca. 
The Pachamanca is a traditional cooking technique that dates back to ancient times. 
A culinary masterpiece that embraces the essence of the Andean highlands. Prepared with utmost care, a medley of marinated meats, potatoes, and vegetables were meticulously arranged in layers, then buried beneath heated stones and earth. Slow-cooked to perfection, the result was a feast of smoky, succulent flavors—a true celebration of local ingredients and time-honored techniques. The Pachamanca experience wasn't just a meal; it was a journey into the rich tapestry of Peruvian gastronomy.

After this break in the nearby town of Maras, we will continue our cycling experience along the paths leading down to the salt mines. It is up to the passengers and their experience level to decide whether we descend to Pichingoto town in the Sacred Valley, to finally drive to Cusco city.

DAY 8 -  EXPERIENCING CUSCO'S URBAN CHARM EXPLORING INCA ARCHAEOLOGICAL GEMS, AND IMMERSED IN PERUVIAN CULINARY ARTISTRY

Our great day in Cusco begins in earnest today with a fine exploration of the historic quarters of this City.

As we spend the morning walking through some of the most beautiful streets of Cusco, we will explore the old bohemian quarter of San Blas, famous for its picturesque white walls and blue doors and its historically artisan community.

On the other side of Cusco we will find the San Pedro market, a Cusqueñan institution, not to be missed. Famous for its tantalizingly exotic fresh fruits and vegetables, mouth-watering juices (too many to choose from), and its natural medicinal herb stalls.

For lunch we embark on a fully hands-on cooking class that promises to immerse you in the world of Peruvian cuisine. For 1.5 hours each guest will learn about the history of Peruvian gastronomy and kitchen concepts, prepare a tropical beverage, and enjoy two of Peru’s most emblematic dishes: ceviche and lomo saltado.

Onwards after our culinary lessons we go down to the magnificent temple of Koricancha. Originally dedicated to the Sun God "Inti" and said to have been the most important temple in the Inca Empire.

This evening, we're in for a delightful dinner marking our farewell to Cusco as early the next day we head towards Puno Region. It will be a special dinner altogether to share and reminisce about the wonderful experiences we had in what was the most significant and spiritual area for the Andean ancestors, founders of the Imperial Capital of Cusco.
